Established in 2007, Al Madina Logistics Services Company had one of its strongest years in 2015, despite the plunging oil price and increase in competition.

Revenue rose 11% while gross profit increased 105% when compared with 2014. The net profit in 2015 was around 9% of revenue, whereas the net profit is expected to be 7% of revenue in 2016 due to the economic and market conditions. Overall revenue is expected to grow by 12% in 2016.

CEO Mahmood Sakhi AlBallushi has been with the company nine years and during which it has become known as the first national 3PL company in Oman. It has developed a leading distribution centre – a paperless facility – and developed and now operates the first and only dry port in Oman, which handles all LCL cargo and all frozen export fisheries.

Major ongoing projects include the bonded facilities at South Al Batinah Logistics Hub in Oman. In addition, the company is also planning to develop a logistics hub at the various airports sites in Oman to support the development of the air cargo operations.

AlBallushi has also been a key voice in drafting the Oman National Logistics Strategy (ONLS), completed in 2015 and spanning to 2040, and remains an advisor during its implementation.

Recently Al MadinaLogistics is audited for the quality certificate ISO 22000:2005 by TUV requirements for a food safety management system in the food chain Supply chain ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of human consumption. AMLS Warehouses and Distribution Centre are designed to be able to manage multi clients and wide range of products. The facilities are equipped to handle the complexities or Pharmaceutical operations, the throughput of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), the safety mechanisms of storage and handling for Chemicals and the Cold Chain Management controls for FMCG that require special storage conditions and handling requirement.

Selective Pallet Racked Ambient Zones

Current projection of more than 40,000 Pallet Positions with a positive air tunnel that is networked across the ambient facility monitors and controls the humidity to ensure ambient temperature does not exceed 35 Degree Celsius.

Bulk Storage Ambient Zones

Current projection of more than 15,000 SQ M with a positive air tunnel that is networked across the ambient facility monitors and controls the humidity to ensure ambient temperature does not exceed 35 Degree Celsius.

Temperature Controlled

Current projection of more than 18,700 sq m with multiple chambers are designed at optimum sizes with independent switchboards to facilitate specific temperature settings for each chamber ranging from of 12° C to 25°C.

Freezer & Chiller

Current projection of more than of 26,000 sq m with multiple chambers with independent switchboards to facilitate various temperature setting for each chamber between the range of range of - 30° to + 14° and equipped with state-of-the-art, fully automated Automatic Storage/Retrieval System (AS/RS).

With dedicated chamber operations we are able to switch chambers fast and easily to operate independently for client-specific operations within 72 hours from order confirmation.

Pick & Pack Services

All areas of our facility are designed to operate both as a bulk Warehouses or as Distribution Centers. With the application of a cutting edge Warehouse Management System (WMS) and high productivity storage and handling systems, we are able to pick and pack 16 lines per hour using the conventional method and 60 lines per hour using automated systems.

MUSCAT CONTAINER DEPOT CONNECTS MUSCAT TO THE WORLD-CLASS SEA PORT OF SOHAR 14th July 2010

Almadina Logistic Services Company by cooperating with Sohar Port’s Oman International Container Terminal (OICT) have launched operations first of its kind in Sultanate of Oman a brand new inland container depot (ICD) officially known as Muscat Container Depot. Muscat Container Depot further reinforces OICT's(Sohar Port) position as Oman’s eminent gateway to international trade.

Muscat Container Depot is the first ICD complete with customs facilities of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman. It extends OICT's gate from Sohar Port to Muscat and thereby enhances OICT’s appeal to shippers and consignees located in and around the capital city of the Sultanate. Conceiving as a "dry port", it allows OICT to have containers originating from or destined for Muscat city and its neighboring hinterland to be conveniently handled in a well-positioned point close to the capital.

Almadina Logistics and OICT with the launch of the Muscat Container Depot are making a major milestone to enable Muscat-based importers and exporters to benefit from OICT's world-class deep sea container terminal in Sohar. Coupled with our facilities in Sohar, Muscat Container Depot provides a convenient one-stop logistic solution dedicated to deliver tangible benefits and competitive advantages to the customers.

Muscat Container Depot serves as an extended gateway for OICT, which will help shippers and consignees within Muscat city to access to Port of Sohar from Muscat itself. All the import and export formalities can now be undertaken at Muscat Container Depot, including customs clearances, customs inspection, customs duty payment for import cargoes, re-export documentation and other port formalities. Containers can now be released from or returned to Muscat Container Depot conveniently without passing through areas with traffic control and jams.

A single window custom clearance system for import, export and re-export containers, combined with the faster turnaround of vehicles and cargo, will translate into significant economic benefits to shippers and their businesses. Besides, a sophisticated electronic data interchange is in place, enabling shipping lines and shippers to track the status of containers routed through OICT Sohar and Muscat.

With the launch of Muscat Container Depot, Almadina Logistics and OICT redefines the logistic industries in Oman to a new standard and enable it solidify its leading position in container trade business in Oman and further nourish the Port of Sohar and the Sultanate as a whole.

AMLS commence operations from Muscat Container Depot12th June 2010

Al Madina Logistics Services Company commenced operations today from a new and first Inland Container Depot (ICD) established at Barka, further reinforcing its position as north Oman’s pre-eminent gateway to international trade.

The new facility, now officially dubbed the ‘Muscat Container Depot’, will serve as a ‘halfway house’ between Sohar and Muscat. The operations would be run in cooperation with Oman International Container Terminal at Sohar Port, thereby enhancing OICT’s appeal to shippers and consignees located in and around the capital city.

“Today, we mark a new milestone in our efforts to make it possible for Muscat-based importers and exporters to benefit from the world-class container handling facilities provided by OICT Sohar. Muscat Container Depot is a fully equipped facility with full customs services for import and export containers. MCD is a one-stop logistics solution to deliver tangible cost benefits and competitive advantages to shippers who opt for Sohar as a gateway for the container shipments,” Mahmood Sakhi Albalushi, Chief Executive Officer, said.

The result of a collaborative arrangement between OICT and Al Madina Logistics, the depot presently features paved container yard space, customs bonded area and inspection bay, full-fledged customs office for import and export clearance, container handling equipment such as reach-stackers and forklifts, reefer facilities, and a fleet of trucks and trailers that shuttle between OICT Sohar and the MCD.

6-Temperature controlled distribution centre 16th Mar 2010

AMLS recently has appointed Ashton Smith Associates from the UK to design a value engineered state of the art, low energy, temperature controlled distribution centre which provides an integrated solution for building systems, storage and stock movements to maximize operating benefits as well as construction efficiencies. Scope also includes dock equipment, racking, protection, MHE, operations (WMS etc), full design of building and services to incorporate agreed logistics solution. Design of Yards and ancillary structures, design of welfare facilities, sustainable energy design, fire-fighting system, refrigeration system, value engineering budgeting and tendering.”
